What are people's experience with virtual classrooms ? WiZiQ offers a virtual Classroom that doesn't cost $100,000 for a site license. That's what attracted me to the WiZiQ VC platform.

www.WiZiQ.com is an online teaching platform, which provides a free virtual classroom environment for teachers to interact online and teach students in real time. Teachers can also build a profile, keep an availability schedule, and maintain a content library, which is associated with their profiles, by uploading PowerPoint presentations and PDF Files.

WiZiQ offers the following features:
Works in Flash format and needs no downloads
2-way live audio/video delivery
Whiteboard with Math tools
Synchronous Content sharing such as PowerPoint (retains animations and transitions), PDF, Flash, MS Word,
MS Excel files and videos
Records all sessions to be played back in Flash format (needs no downloads)
Share PowerPoint presentations asynchronously even with narrated audio in slides
WiZiQ's free Virtual Classroom is an online internet mediated classroom where the teacher and the students are connected to share a common workspace. In this online session, they make use of audio-video conferencing, text chat, whiteboard, and content sharing capabilities. There are no costs for using the virtual classroom. The sessions are recorded and are available online on WiZiQ, which can be accessed for later review or reference.
Attendees can join a session with privileges to converse verbally with others; draw and write on whiteboard; and share Presentations, PDFs, Flash and Images. The teacher may withdraw or re-assign these privileges to the attendees. A Teacher can withdraw privileges from the attendee in terms that the attendee can not converse, or upload anything to share on whiteboard; in this case, the attendee is a spectator. An attendee can also request for rights, in which case, the teacher can click on the attendee’s name to transfer control.

Payments from learners can be accepted.
Teachers can maintain a learners’ corner.
Understandable, since we kept you pretty occupied with our many questions, eh? I believe you said that this session is now archived on WiZiQ, but I didn't find it in the public presentations. If you'll point us in the right direction, I'll be sure to update the iLiF Note.
Also, I noticed that authorStream offers iPod-ready downloads, which is tremendous, but thought you'd like to know that the embedded AS vids in your blog post will not function on the Safari browser used with the iPod Touch/iPhone. After exploring WiZiQ the first time, I must have missed the presentation embed codes (or perhaps thought Ning was limited to YouTube and Google,) so I surfed over to YouTube to find comparable vids to post here on the Network.
I'd really like to be able to share your recent introductory session here at iLiF, as well as the ones we host with Vedic Math instructors this fall. Let me know how to make that happen, if you please :D
Enjoy the weekend, Amigos ~ I AM!

Hi penne,
I could have extended the time I just wasn't paying attention.
Excellent session, Mark! Too bad we ran out of time before figuring out my audio problem, but I'll definitely work on that before the Vedic Math session gets underway. Haven't heard back from Guarav, yet, but one of the VM instructors named Ken sent some information on his course. Looks like just the ticket! Working the Law of Attraction ~ I AM! ;-)
Enjoy your week, Amigos

Welcome to the Ning Fest, Terri!! I've grown quite fond of this interface since a few friends introduced me to the site last year, and it's great to have you with us :D
I've been exploring the various resources -- WOW -- you ain't kidding. There's so much out there that I wasn't aware had been developed! I'm glad you prompted me to surf back over to compare services with WiZiQ, because I found Mark's introductory class coming up tomorrow (see the 'Notes' section for this and today's session on the new WiZiQ Live Class/Activity Module for Moodle by Alexandro Colorado - 11:00 AM [(GMT-06:00) Guadalajara, Mexico City, Monterrey.]
GMTA, Mark! Guarav is one of the teachers I selected to receive an inquiry into group videoconferencing for VM :D Looking forward to class tomorrow - thanks again!

I've been experimenting with myicourse.com . I've been developing online content on it, as companion material to a community based First Amendment class I've been teaching at a local library. The very kind and well-intentioned creators of the online content management system have been helpful and it looks promising, but I'm honestly not sure what I should be looking for in online content management systems. I'm aware of Wizq and had even picked it as our featured web resource at the LIFE Inc website last year. And I'm familiar with Moodle. Myicourse is also free and seems to provide many, if not all, the same things Wizq does. So how does one pick? My feeble attempt at online course development is at http://universityoflife.myicourse.com
