Grateful for winning the NaNoWriMo novel challenge today!

Greetings all, At 3 am this fine morning, pumped full of Mountain Dew, I crossed the 50,000 word finish line for my Native American novel "Two Step." The synopsis is a Native American woman from the Oneida tribe who is finding herself, her Higher Power, and true love after a major loss of a relationship. The sheer exhilaration of finally completing such a large sized word project still blows my mind. I am grateful to all my family and friends who sent me words of encouragement, cards, and spent… Continue

NaNoWriMo Days 14-20 - 34,308 words

NaNoWriMo Days 14 - 20 - 34,308 words I am still here and writing my "Two Step" novel. I just went out of town for four days and came back and threw myself in my work and my novel so I haven't had the luxury of time to keep you all up dated as much as I like. So I will summarize the last few days here in a single email. Day 14 - Friday I went into work today tying up loose ends before going to Chicago pow wow tomorrow. I came home and packed my bags for the weekend. I wrote up… Continue

NaNoWriMo Day 11 - 24, 242 words

NaNoWriMo Day 11 - 24, 242 words Went to work today early. Weather was most cold even with a winter coat on standing at the bus stop. Felt motion sickness on the bus at every turn and detour. Relieved to get off the bus. Had to climb into the van to go to a work meeting in Milwaukee to the agency I work for that helps children, family, and those with mental illness. Today's topic was Trauma Informed Care. How to deescalate a situation using sensory intervention with individuals who have… Continue

NaNoWriMo Day 10 - 24,242 words Early morning I spent writing in my journal and doing more cleaning. In the afternoon I had to go to the hospital because of my diabetes. It wasn't for an emergency basis, the diabetes education center is located there. I go there for regular maintenance and diabetic education courses. I was weighed and I maintained my weight from last month. I still need to remember to get a med alert bracelet. My diabetic dietician wants me to keep closer track of what I… Continue

NaNoWriMo Day 9 - 22,559 Words

NaNoWriMo Day 9 - 22,559 Words Okay I will be blunt I feel like a walking zombie now. I am constantly thinking about my novel, talking to people, researching, reading, planning, and rehearsing in mind about my novel when I am not writing it. And when I am writing it I am spending hours a day pounding it out and my wrists and neck hurt. When I get done writing at midnight I am all wired up and can't seem to unwind til 2 am or 3 am. Then I wake up at 8 am. I need to really pace myself and… Continue

NaNoWriMo Day 8 - 19,674 words

NaNoWriMo Day 8 - 19,674 words Today I rested as much as I could. I had a full week, lots of daily writing, and Saturday was day one of the second week which Chris Baty of NaNoWriMo.org says is a sophomore week and a slump week. Not what I wanted to hear. They say the first week is the honeymoon week when you're all full of excitement and vigor. But the second week you begin to stall and struggle. I know I was starting to feel it. I wanted to take off today to be honest, but I know that… Continue

NaNoWriMo Day 7 - 16,839 words

NaNoWriMo Day 7 - 16,839 words I spent the day with a dear friend and neighbor. We talked a lot about each other's lives. She discussed the challenges of her spirit and day to day life. She expressed an interest in my novel and we discussed the issues revolving my novel's main character. The character is having problems meditating and being able to silence the chatter of her mind to hear her Higher Power. I spent a lot of time doing background research for my novel including topics of c… Continue

NaNoWriMo day 6 - 14,791 words

NaNoWriMo day 6 - 14,791 words I had some medical appointments in the morning. Things that must be done to keep me smiling and healthy. lol Then, I went to a celebration of a graduation of employment training for several of my friends. Everybody introduced themselves to the room.We had watched a video featuring one of the fine community agencies in my area. There was an excellent lasagne dinner made from scratch, bread with butter, salad, peanuts, pretzels, popcorn, and lemonade. The gra… Continue

She keeps me sane. lol I ate a simple late lunch. I wrote in my journal. I said my prayers, meditations, and affirmations. Started up the computer and I was on my way to reading my email. NaNoWriMo Day 4 - 10,415 words

NaNoWriMo Day 4 - 10,415 words Yesterday, I talked with a dear friend sharing with her about my novel writing experience. It's nice to have someone cheer you on. I am having a growing list of people who want to read my completed novel. For some crazy reason that seems intimidating. Writing for myself seemed to be less pressure, but now knowing people actually are caring about reading my words is a shock to me that people care. Once, I was talking about the synopsis of my story to a cab d… Continue

NaNoWriMo Day 3 - 8,600 words

NaNoWriMo Day 3 - 8,600 words Well I had to wait til 8pm to start writing today because my day was so full of other things. I started my day at 6 am cleaning, balancing my checkbook, and getting ready for my day. By 9:45 am I was off to a meeting and then work. I also had to go to a Memorial for three people at 1pm. I already voted for Barack Obama and so today I spent my time at my local Waukesha Obama headquarters calling potential voters asking if we can have their support, whether th… Continue

NaNoWriMo Day 2 - 6,040 words

Buffy's Day 2 NaNoWriMo novel writing - 6,040 words . I had the most bizarre surreal and very vivid dreams last night. It's as if by writing my novel I unlocked some magical door inside my head and something powerfully creative is running through me. I have been so inspired lately and have been writing all over the place whereby alot of people have been responding strongly to what I have had to say. I received many compliments. One woman said I gave her "the chills" by my words. Another… Continue

NaNoWriMo Day 1 - 2,879 words

NaNoWriMo Day 1 - 2,879 words Greetings Circle, I thought I would share my journey as I write my novel. One, to help me be more accountable. Two, to get encouragement and support from all of you. I really need you all right now. I began my novel writing day at 3:30 am. I could not sleep even though I had an exhausting day working a 6 hour party in costume at work. I was on my feet alot constantly getting up and down. I thought for sure I would sleep like a rock but I didn't. So I decid… Continue
